Things To Do Before Selling Your Android Phone
There are now more than 2 billion monthly active Android devices. About approximately 16% of the world Android users sell their Android Phone every year. Android devices contain person private data and most of the people just sell their phone without knowing that the person who is willing to buy their phone is not only interested in your android device but they are also interested in your private data that are easy to recover by any recovery software.
There are following steps that you can do before selling your phone and to prevent that from happening.
STEP 1:
Remove Sim Card and SD cards:
Sim cards contain contacts and call logs and SD card contains your personal data. These things must be remove before selling it. As the data in your SD card can be recovered easily and maybe misused. So its better for your security to remove sim and SD card before selling your phone.
STEP 2:
Back Up Data:
Android devices should have desktop software that
would allow you to back up your data with a USB cable.
If you synchronize your data with your Google accounts then your contacts, calendar and e-mail will already be fully backed up in the cloud. That means when you login with your Google account on your new phone that important information will be there. Many manufacturers have their own cloud so by using their cloud you can also backup your data there. Music and photos can be backed up with Google Drive or any other third party app.
STEP 3:
Factory Reset:
The
first thing you need to do is go to settings choose backup and reset and click
on factory data reset. These options may vary depending on your phone model. Once
you reset your phone you get the basic options you need to choose your language
then set up your Wi-Fi and do the other basic stuff such as privacy and your
Google Account, the date and time. After factory reset connect your phone to your PC and fill your phone's memory with some junk files and again factory reset your phone and repeat this four to five times so that all your other old information gets deleted permanently from your
phone's memory. Next thing you need to do is go to settings security and you can encrypt your
phone with a password. Once
you do that you will see the screen next time when you switch on the phone will ask
for the password key in that and once that is done go to settings go down choose
backup and reset and click on factory data reset one last time now your phone
will be cleared of all the old information and data. Encryption means that if someone wants to see any data on your phone, they'll need your password to decrypt it.
STEP 4:
Charge and Clean Your Phone:
After Factory reset the first step
is to charge your phone completely. After charging clean your phone with cloth
and remove all the dust from it. Also clean all the ports of it. Cleaning your
device is a nice gesture. It makes the buyer feel like they’re getting their
money’s worth. It will help you in selling your phone at best price.
STEP 5:
Gather Accessories:
After cleaning your andriod phone next step is to gather all the accessories.
If you have original box and accessories like charger, hands free and USB cable then it will add value to your device and it will sold out in handsome amount.
STEP 6:
Post Your Ad:
After cleaning your phone, take the photos of it from every angle and show the defected area also if any and post the ad of your phone in any online sell and buy app. It will help you a lot in selling your phone. Also do little survey about the market price of your phone. It will let you know about the worth of your device.
